Reading

Erasmus once said, “When I get a little money, I buy books.  If any is left, I buy food and clothes.” Here is a short list of my own personal favorites.  There is a lot of wisdom in these pages:

Shawn Achor’s The Happiness Advantage: The Seven Principles of Positive Psychology That Fuel Success and Performance at Work. In this must-read, Achor explains how we can reprogram our brains to become more positive in order to gain a competitive edge at work.
Nicholas Carr’s The Big Switch: Rewiring the World, from Edison to Google. If you want to understand the inevitability of businesses moving to the cloud – then this is your treatise!
Robert Cialdini’s Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion, Revised Edition. This classic explains the psychology behind why people say “yes”—and how to apply these understandings in your own life.
Robert MacKenzie’s Setting Limits with Your Strong-Willed Child, Revised and Expanded 2nd Edition: Eliminating Conflict by Establishing CLEAR, Firm, and Respectful Boundaries. This book was a godsend to my wife and me when my first-born started acting up at around the age of 8.  If you are in a similar position – this book is AWESOME and when followed works like magic. You can thank me later!
